Privacy Policy
This policy describes what information the Yamb Android app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Yamb is a dice-game scorecard with offline single-player, local pass-and-play, and peer-to-peer multiplayer over Bluetooth / Wi-Fi. The app has no backend servers of its own.
Information collected on your device only
The following data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us:
- Display name you enter in Settings.
- Saved games (scoresheets in progress).
- Local high-score leaderboard.
- Theme and gameplay preferences.
Uninstalling the app removes all of this data.
Information shared with other players (peer-to-peer)
When you start or join a Multiplayer session, your display name and per-turn scoring moves are sent directly to the other devices in the lobby over Bluetooth / Wi-Fi using Google's Nearby Connections API. No game data passes through any server we control. Nothing is stored after the session ends.
Information collected by third-party SDKs
The app uses the following third-party services which collect technical data automatically:
- Google Firebase Crashlytics — collects crash reports (stack traces, device model, OS version, app version, a randomly generated installation ID) when the app crashes. Used solely to diagnose and fix bugs.
- Google Firebase Analytics — collects anonymous usage events (screens opened, app opens, approximate region) and a randomly generated installation ID. Used to understand which features are used and to detect issues.
- Google Play Services / Nearby Connections — used as the transport for Multiplayer mode. See Google's privacy policy for details.
These SDKs may collect approximate location (region/country level only) and a randomly generated advertising or installation ID. They do not collect your name, email, contacts, or precise location.
If a future version of the app adds advertising, this section will be updated and a new app version released before ads are shown.
Permissions the app requests
- Bluetooth, Wi-Fi state, Nearby Wi-Fi devices — required by Nearby Connections for Multiplayer. Used only while a Multiplayer lobby or game is active.
- Coarse / Fine location (Android 11 and earlier only) — Android historically required location access for Bluetooth scanning even though the app does not use your location. On Android 12+ this permission is no longer requested.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
Your choices
- You can disable Crashlytics and Analytics collection at the OS level via Settings → Google → Ads → Reset advertising ID and by limiting ad personalization, or by uninstalling the app.
- You can clear all locally stored data by uninstalling the app or via Settings → Apps → Yamb → Storage → Clear data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Material changes will be reflected in the app's release notes on Google Play.
